It's got a clean title, but it also has 33,000 miles on it. Even so, that's an insanely low price.
The original MSRP isn't listed, but it has carbon fiber options, so this is probably close to $100,000 of depreciation in four years.
Holy crap.

Don't bother, I just robbed it.

is there any reason why you can't drive one of these to 100k miles?
![]() 05/30/2014 at 17:43 |

I mean, if you don't mind outrageous service bills and possible probable engine replacements, why not?
![]() 05/30/2014 at 17:58 |

Thats actually a surprisingly large number of miles for such a car. Kudos to the previous owner.

Engine replacement? Like the motor won't do 100? But why? What fails? I just don't get it...
![]() 05/30/2014 at 18:18 |

Whoops, I meant to say "rebuild", not "replacement".
![]() 05/30/2014 at 19:38 |

Haha I was looking at this one online a few days ago. If it was blue with brown leather I'd be having a kidney removed right now.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 19:40 |

Only money. The recent Ferrari engines are solid. They will last way past 100K without needing a rebuild. They're not kit cars anymore.
If you're willing to take the deprecation hit then you can DD the crap out of a 458.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 19:43 |
|
Nah that's exaggerated.
There was a 458 with around 100K miles on it on eBay recently. It was track toy that people rented to have track days with. Someone on FChat found the service history. It had some stuff maintained and replaced but I don't think it had an engine rebuild done. Which is pretty damn impressive. 100K miles with a lot of them being on the track is heavy usage.

SAME here. The drugs are working, I'm pretty content now. This 458 is just unbelievably cheap. BUY IT RUSTO. At this price point, colors become less important.
But then again, if you wait another few months your ideal 458 will probably be at this price as well.

Know how much it went for?
![]() 05/30/2014 at 20:50 |

I wish I could. The more time I spend in Excel budgeting and forecasting the more I realize how crazy it would be to get that kind of loan right now. Maybe in a year I could make it happen. But more likely an F430 because cheaper.
I'm glad the pain killers are working now.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 20:51 |

I think it was listed around $110K but didn't sell
![]() 05/30/2014 at 20:54 |

And because gated manual (unless Scud).
Yeah, it's so much better now. I hope I'm well enough to go autoXing on Sunday.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 21:07 |

I'm surprised... You think the cost of maintenance would be easily offset by the depreciation hit.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 22:45 |

I think the only real solution is to get one with a gated shifter and one Scud. You could get both for the price of one 458 Speciale, lol
You will be good for AutoX on Sunday. Channel your inner Lauda
![]() 05/30/2014 at 22:47 |

From what I read most people thought a fair price would be $85K given the mileage and the fact that the car had seen so much track time.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 22:51 |
|
I don't know why, but I think I'd rather have a 430 with the gated shifter and a Challenge Stradale. I have a thing for the Challenge Stradale, but I think I've already talked about that.
MAYBE MORE DRUGS WILL MAKE EVERYTHING BETTER
*pours bottle full of drugs in mouth*

Isn't that approaching your price range?
![]() 05/30/2014 at 23:19 |

That would be an AWESOME combo.
Drugs r bad, McKay?
![]() 05/30/2014 at 23:20 |

yes I would buy the shit out of a 458 at that price. I wouldn't care if it had 125000 miles and worn seats
![]() 05/30/2014 at 23:23 |
|
I mean, would the cost of maintenance be significantly more at that mileage?
![]() 05/30/2014 at 23:26 |

Mckay.....
Are you watching the hockey game?!? I forget if you're an Anaheim or LA fan, or if you follow hockey at all.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 23:56 |

If it wasn't tracked then no. The fear with a track car is that things will need to be replaced earlier than normal.
![]() 05/30/2014 at 23:58 |

That makes sense. I assume magnetic shocks and whatnot can get pricey.

oh shit I just checked espn after reading your comment. Kings lost. GOOD. I like the hometown Ducks.
I'm in my buddy's E60 528i right now. 2009. Damn the interior of this car is nice.

I want an E60 M5 now

It's never too late to trade in both bimmers for another bimmer at Carmax!
![]() 05/31/2014 at 13:14 |

Yo Dawg I heard you like Bimmers so I traded in your Bimmer for another Bimmer.
Check this out. If I didn't go M5 then I could add a 6MT E60 with the sport package to the garage for under $20K.
This particular car is so nice! Look at the interior!!!
I thought you'd like this 2008 BMW 528i on AutoTrader.com.

That does look pretty awesome, but I don't think it's with getting without dat V10.
![]() 05/31/2014 at 15:23 |
|
Yeah this would be more of a logical commuter.
I think this is the best overall value for a well rounded car under $20K. Good gas mileage and won't be expensive to maintain.

And you get the added benefit of it being amazing looking, inside and out!
